Are government mint silver and private mint silver worth the same?

Question by JinJung: Are government mint silver and private mint silver worth the same?
Are government mint silver and private mint silver worth the same in any given occasion? Will they both be able to sell the same at any time as the silver price fluctuates? Is it better to invest in private mint rounds or to invest in government mint coins, both being 1oz and .999 pure silver. Aside from specific dates, such as a government mint coin from the 1990s, whose price will definitely go higher due to the time period, will, for example, a pure .999 silver Scottsdale Silver or Quality Silver Bullion coin be worth the same as a government mint 2010 .999 silver Walking Liberty coin in today's market? I'm sorry if it's difficult to comprehend what I am trying to ask, for I am rushing through this and not revising it.

Government coins may go up in value as an antique as it ages. It will go up or down in value as bullion regardless of it becoming an antique.
Private medallions and bars are considered bullion and as such, only have a bullion value regardless of what the smelter tries to say in its' advertisement. It doesn't matter if the smelter makes one medallion or one million medallions, the value is in the amount of bullion in the medallion.

So unless you are trying to become a numismatists, stick with buying plain bars and medallions, not the over priced limited editions, etc. that are hype, not real value.

ok so i ordered 3 oz of silver (requested bars but if those arent in stock they will send rounds) from bullion direct for $ 42.72 per oz. did i get a good deal?
